Material led projects, developed through design, prototyping and fabrication

Working across plastic and technical textile materials from industry, events and production, we develop ideas into practical products, installations and experiences.

From difficult waste streams to new materials and applications, our projects bring together material knowledge, design and fabrication to explore what is possible.

Working with Recycled Plastic

We believe recycled plastic is more than a waste solution; it’s a material for making.

Britain has a long tradition of turning material knowledge, craft and technology into new possibilities. Future Makers is exploring the next chapter of that tradition: bringing recycled plastic back to the artisan, so artists, designers, architects and makers can work with it as confidently as they do wood, metal or ceramic.

Our projects are a way of testing what that material can become. We work directly with different waste streams, experimenting with new processes and collaborating with creative practitioners to develop, prototype and make new things. Through this work, we are building the knowledge needed to move recycled plastic from an overlooked waste material into a useful, desirable and widely adopted material for the future.
