The Plastic Revolution
Making circularity visible through creativity, participation and hands-on transformation.
Plastic Revolution is Future Makers’ growing programme of schools, community and industry collaborations designed to reconnect people with materials through making.
By collecting, sorting, shredding and transforming plastic locally, learners experience circularity first hand, turning everyday plastic into design led, visible outcomes for their schools, campuses and communities.
Plastic is here to stay
Over 400 million tonnes of plastic waste are generated globally each year (UNEP / OECD 2023–2025), yet many people are disconnected from how materials are made, used and transformed.
Plastic Revolution demonstrates how visible, hands-on engagement can help change perceptions around plastic, circularity and material value.
From Collection To Creation
When people can follow a material journey, transformation becomes real.
Plastic Revolution helps schools, organisations and communities collect plastic, process materials and create artistic outcomes that return directly into their own environments.
Projects include:
School collection programmes
Collaborative making workshops
Public planters
Bird boxes
CNC cut coasters
Learning By Doing
Young people engage when they can see, touch and shape real world outcomes.
Plastic Revolution creates accessible pathways into material experimentation, fabrication and circular design.
Through workshops, placements and collaborative projects, learners gain hands-on experience while developing creativity, confidence and practical making skills.
The programme stretches across primary schools, secondary education, colleges and universities.
Making Circularity Visible Together
Plastic Revolution brings together schools, businesses, venues, educators, artists and communities through shared material transformation.
By opening up material streams, collaborative workshops and public facing outcomes, projects become opportunities for participation, creativity and visible local impact.
Future Makers is working across events, regeneration, education and public space to explore more creative and visible approaches to circularity.
Join the Plastic Revolution
Plastic Revolution is more than recycling.
It’s about helping people engage with materials through creativity, experimentation and making.
We’re looking to collaborate with organisations, schools, venues and industry partners exploring new approaches to circularity and public engagement.
This could include:
Sponsoring a school programme
Supporting community workshops
Opening material streams for experimentation
Collaborative product development
Public installations and placemaking
Educational partnerships and skills development
We believe people value materials differently when they can participate in transformation directly.
