Recycled Plastic, Stunning Creativity, Limitless Possibility

We’re thrilled to share the magic of Sarah Turner’s Lady Godiva sculpture for Coventry Building Society. This inspirational artwork celebrates creativity, sustainability and community. It shows what’s possible when artists and businesses dream big with recycled plastic.

Transforming Recycled Plastic into Art

Using 250kg of recycled plastic, including thousands of bottle tops collected by staff at Coventry Building Society and donated by Plastic Shed in Manchester, Sarah created a striking silhouette of Lady Godiva on horseback. At the Future Makers Studio every top was carefully colour sorted, shredded and blended with recycled granules to create sheets in vibrant, dappled tones of blue. They were then CNC cut to perfection and carefully assembled into a sculpture that represents an enduring symbol of social justice, synonymous with the identity of Coventry.

This project highlights the impact of collaboration with Future Makers. A Landmark Sculpture for Coventry

Now standing proudly in the wildflower meadow at Coventry Building Society’s head office, Lady Godiva stands as a celebration of Coventry’s history, creative vision and the possibilities of circular design.

As Sarah says, “I’m thrilled with how it’s turned out! People have been donating bottle tops for years and to finally bring them together in this sculpture has been amazing. Seeing it installed makes every step worth it and I can’t wait to create more sculptures using the same process!”
