Lady Godiva Sculpture Made from Recycled Plastic

Artist Sarah Turner worked with Future Makers and Coventry Building Society to transform 250kg of recycled plastic into a striking Lady Godiva sculpture.

Bottle tops collected by Coventry Building Society staff were colour sorted, shredded and blended with recycled granules to create bespoke recycled plastic sheets. These were CNC cut and assembled into the finished sculpture.

Transforming Recycled Plastic into Art

Using 250kg of recycled plastic, including bottle tops collected by Coventry Building Society staff and donated by Plastic Shed in Manchester, Sarah created a striking Lady Godiva on horseback.

At Future Makers, the bottle tops were colour sorted, shredded and blended with recycled granules to create vibrant blue recycled plastic sheets. These were CNC cut and assembled into the finished sculpture.

The project demonstrates how artists, businesses and Future Makers can work together to turn recycled plastic into distinctive, meaningful artwork.

A Landmark Sculpture for Coventry

Installed in the wildflower meadow at Coventry Building Society’s head office, Lady Godiva celebrates Coventry’s history while demonstrating what recycled plastic can become.

Sarah Turner said: “I’m thrilled with how it’s turned out! People have been donating bottle tops for years and to finally bring them together in this sculpture has been amazing.”
